The question
Which reference was known, and what did price actually do around it?
- VWAP depends on the chosen data and reset period.
- The blue line is synthetic, not a calculation from market data.
- A touch, rejection and break-and-return are different observations.
Specify what the reference represents.
VWAP weights prices by traded volume over a stated period. The instrument, data source, session boundaries and reset or anchor determine what is included. Two differently configured charts can therefore show different reference values.
The illustration uses a constructed blue line to explain location, together with a prior swing reference. It does not calculate VWAP from candles, reveal a proprietary filter or show a live market measurement.
Observe the response without assuming it.
Being above a reference, crossing it intrabar, closing beyond it and returning to it describe different events. An evaluation needs to say which observation counts and when it becomes available. Highlighting only the references that later held is hindsight.
A complete candidate still needs an entry, invalidation and objective. A VWAP touch alone does not determine position direction, size or a stop distance. The actual published plan remains separate from this context diagram.
References can fail together.
A prior swing and a volume-weighted average can both give way during changing conditions. News, gaps, costs and different available fills still matter. Combining two familiar references does not establish the chance of a profitable outcome.
Keep the source, settings and decision time in any evaluation record. No active VWAP strategy or verified performance is claimed here.
